Living by the Spirit of Christ

You may be asking yourself many questions about church or which church to be a part of. We've designed this page in an attempt to answer some of your questions about what to expect on a visit to the Etowah River church of Christ. We would be honered to meet you and your family.

Churches of Christ strive to imitate the pattern of worship found in the New Testament. Here is what to expect on your visit to Etowah River.

Bible Study 9:30 A.M.
This is the time when meaningful lessons of God's Word are taught from the bible. An interactive study time where questions are welcomed and answers are given based on scripture. A time when discussion and comments are encouraged.

Worship Service 10:30 A.M.
This is the time to Honor, Praise, and Glorify God. A time to sing, to pray, to reflect, and to learn while thanking God for his love and grace. A time to gain the strength and courage to serve God and others in your daily life.

1. Announcements of interest to the congregation will be made by one of the men. As a Visitor, You are our Honored Guest and we extend a welcome during this time. You will be asked to complete a Visitor’s Card so that we may have a record of your attendance, and you may place this in the collection plate if you like.

2. One of the men or young boys will read several scriptures from the Bible.

3. One of the men will lead the congregation in songs of praise to God (Col. 3:16). Etowah River uses congregational acappella (vocal only) music in its services. You are welcome to join in or just listen to the singing.

4. We will be lead in an opening prayer by one of the men. (1 Cor. 14:13).

5. We will partake of the Lord’s Supper (Communion), a practice we observe every first day of the week – the bread and the fruit of the vine (1Cor. 11:24-26). It is between you and the Lord whether you participate in the Lord’s Supper; you will not be embarrassed in any way by members if you choose not to participate.

6. The members of the congregation will have an opportunity to contribute of their physical blessings (1Cor. 16:1-2). As a guest, you are not expected to participate in this activity, but may if you choose to.

7. Our minister – Shane Miller will deliver the message based on the Bible.

8. After the sermon, the minister will extend an invitation. An invitation song will be sung. During this song we invite anyone who wishes to Accept Christ or has a spiritual need, to come to the front where the Minister will greet you and tend to your need.

9. At the end of the Worship Service, one of the men will lead the congregation in a closing prayer.
