OUR BELIEFS The At the same time, however, we as a community are nourished
by the basic teachings about God, humanity, salvation, and the Bible that have
been held in common by Christians throughout the ages. We understand that there have always been
variations in expressions and practice, but we stand in the broad community of
believers throughout the ages who have testified to their faith in Jesus the
Christ, the Messiah and the only Begotten Son of God.
“John 17:21. “That they may all be one, as you, Father, are
in me and I am in you. May they also be
in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me.” WE BELIEVE IN ONE GOD (ELOHIM): FATHER,
SON, AND HOLY SPIRIT unified in divine love throughout
eternity. This trinity of one God in
three persons is without beginning and without end and is alone worthy of all
worship. We believe that from God’s own
love, God chose to create human beings as creatures capable of having a free
relationship of love and trust with their creator, but also capable of sin and
rebellion. We believe that although sin
and brokenness have profoundly separated us from God and enslaved us so that we
can never save ourselves, God has never ceased to love his creatures. “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” Genesis 1:1. (1. Time; 2 Force; 3 Energy;
4. Space; 5 Matter)
“Then God said, “Let us make man in our image..”
Genesis 1:26-27
;
Genesis 2:7;
Psalms 90:2;
Matthew 28:19-20;
2Corinthians 13:14;
Ephesians 4:4-6.
. BECAUSE OF THAT LOVE God chose to come among us in Jesus of Nazareth, the Son of
God, who was the Messiah promised to ancient Matthew 1:20-32;
Luke 19:10;
John 3:16-21;
Philippians 2:5-11;
Hebrews 4:14-16.
Jesus demonstrated his power over sin and death by his
resurrection from the dead after three days.
1Corinthians 15:3-11.
Shortly after his resurrection, Jesus ascended to Heaven
and promised to return. Acts 1:9-11;
1 Thessalonians 4:13-18.
Salvation can only come through Jesus Christ. Acts 4:12;
Colossians 1:15-23.
WE BELIEVE THAT WE ARE SAVED BY GOD’S GRACE AS A FREE GIFT FROM
GOD. Salvation is a free gift from God in that it cannot be
earned or achieved through good deeds or self improvement. God extends salvation to believers as an act
of grace and mercy paid for by the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross. Romans 6:23;
; Ephesians 2:8-10;
Hebrews 9:11-28.
Salvation, which includes the forgiveness of sins and
eternal life are only available to those who trust Jesus Christ as Savior. John 8:24.
Those who accept and believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the
Christ and our Savior should: Repent of sin:
Luke 13:1-5;
Confess
their faith in Jesus: Romans 10:9-11;
1 Timothy 6:11-16.
Be baptized (immersed) in Jesus’
name: Matthew 28:18-19;
Mark16:16;
Acts 2:38;
Romans 6:1-6.
The Holy Spirit lives in everyone who
has been baptized for the remission of sin
strengthening them in their inner person. Acts 2:38-39 The evidence
of the Spirit’s indwelling is the fruit seen in an increasingly Christ-like life.
Galatians 5:22-26. WE BELIEVE THAT THE BIBLE IS THE INSPIRED WORD OF GOD AND IS OUR
AUTHORITY IN ALL MATTERS OF FAITH AND LIFE. “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is
profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in
righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for
every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 and 2 Timothy 2:22-26. WE BELIEVE THAT CHRISTIANS ARE EMPOWERED BY THE INDWELLING OF THE
HOLY SPIRIT To have the mind of Christ to serve, strengthen and
encourage others and to reach others who are far from God and to lead them to
salvation and grace. Philippians 2:12-18. |
